Therapy That Meets You Where You Are

Private Assessment & Treatment Sessions

At Play to Grow OT, we believe children thrive in the environments where they feel most comfortable and connected. Whether it’s your home, a local library, community park, daycare, preschool, or private school, our therapists may be available to assess and support your child in the setting that best fits your family’s needs and preferences.

We’re currently accepting new patients across the Triangle area. To learn more or inquire about in-home therapy availability, please email our office directly—we’d be honored to support your child’s journey.

The Process

1. REFERRAL is made and received (either via contacting our team personally, having your physican's office contact our team, or through your local CDSA if child is under 3 years of age), and our Owner will personally contact you to schedule an evaluation with you and your child.

2. A specialized EVALUATION will be scheduled that may range from 30-60 minutes in duration, during which time your therapist will discuss your concerns and goals for your child, and will observe and engage in a variety of tasks to determine your child's current level of function.

3. A CUSTOM THERAPY PLAN with goals specific to your child and family's needs will be created, also known as a Plan of Care.

4. Therapy sessions will begin once AUTHORIZATION is received from insurance providers as needed (typically 1-2 week period), and range from 45-60 minutes in length, either 1 or 2 times per week depending on your child's needs and the availability of you and your therapist.

Please see below for brief descriptions of several services that we offer at this time.

Early Intervention Services

Early Intervention supports infants and toddlers (ages 0–3) by promoting meaningful participation in everyday routines—at home, in the community, and within caregiving relationships. Therapy focuses on strengthening a child’s functional skills while empowering families to navigate developmental challenges with confidence and care.

Areas of support may include:

  • Toileting and hygiene routines

  • Rest and sleep patterns

  • Fine motor and visual-motor development

  • Play and exploration

  • Social interaction and participation

Our goal is to help children and their families build skills that foster connection, independence, and joy—right where life happens.

Sensory-Based Feeding Therapy

For children experiencing picky eating or problem feeding behaviors—often rooted in sensory processing differences—feeding therapy offers a gentle, play-based path toward progress. Using multi-sensory activities, behavioral strategies, environmental adaptations, and caregiver coaching, we help children explore new textures and flavors while building confidence at mealtimes.

At Play to Grow OT, we integrate the SOS Approach to Feeding alongside principles from baby-led weaning (BLW) to promote independence, autonomy, and joyful participation. Our goal is to reduce stress and create more meaningful, connected mealtime experiences for your entire family.

We also support families navigating:

  • Nursing and breastfeeding challenges

  • Bottle-to-cup transitions

  • Mealtime routines and feeding milestones

Whether your child is just beginning solids or working through complex feeding needs, we’re here to help every bite feel safe, supported, and successful.

Therapy for Medically Fragile Children

If your child is facing a critical medical condition—or has experienced a sudden change in health due to trauma, progressive disease, or a newly diagnosed condition—Play to Grow OT is here to help.

Our therapists are experienced in working with medically complex infants and children across a wide range of physical and cognitive challenges. We focus on:

  • Facilitating early mobilization and safe movement

  • Restoring functional skills and developmental progress

  • Preventing further decline through proactive intervention

  • Collaborating closely with your child’s medical team to ensure coordinated care

We meet children where they are—physically, emotionally, and developmentally—and support families with the tools, guidance, and advocacy they need during critical moments of transition and healing.

Sensory Integration Therapy

For children experiencing sensory processing challenges, Occupational Therapy can help them better interpret and respond to everyday sensory input—such as light, sound, touch, movement, and smells. Using purposeful, play-based activities, therapy supports the development of more adaptive responses to sensory experiences that may otherwise feel overwhelming or confusing.

At Play to Grow OT, we follow a child-led approach, allowing each child’s interests and motivation to guide the selection of activities. This empowers them to actively explore and engage in sensory-rich experiences that promote regulation, confidence, and connection.

Sensory integrative therapy may benefit children with:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD)

  • Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)

  • And other neurodevelopmental or regulatory differences

Our goal is to help children feel safe in their bodies, connected to their environments, and confident in their ability to participate in daily life.

& So Much More!

If your child is showing developmental differences not mentioned above, we’re here to help. Every child’s journey is unique, and our team is happy to explore whether home-based Occupational Therapy could be a good fit for your family.

Play to Grow OT offers one free 15-minute phone consultation to each family interested in our services. Reach out to our office to learn more—we’d love to connect and support your next steps.
