SUPPLEMENTAL TUBE WEANING
Supplemental tube weaning with our "Wean Team" is a weaning program rooted in the belief that our little ones are fully capable of safely and effectively transitioning from tube feeds within the comfort of their natural home environments with the approrpiate support, advocacy, and team behind them!

Using an interdisciplinary and comprehensive approach to weaning, we ensure that our families and their precious infants, toddlers, and children receive support from not only those of us on their Feeding and Occupational Therapy team, but from a registered dietician and members of their hospital-based Feeding Team and physicians as well.

Not only does our Wean Team have over 30 years of collaborative experience working with infants, toddlers, and children in their home environments, we are also trained in various theories and frameworks that incorporate trauma-informed care, sensory processing associated with feeding differences and challenges, maternal and infant mental health, parent coaching, and relationship-based care.

Your child and family will receive a client-centered weaning plan along with day-to-day support in your natural home environment (or virtually if that best suits your family needs!).
How to Get Started:

-
If therapist is available to serve your location or provide virtual support, you will be added to our secure patient portal on FUSION, where you will fill out initial intake paperwork and be scheduled for the initial evaluation

-
Following evaluation, your client-centered Plan of Care will be created including a schedule of sessions, PDF supports with caregiver information and strategies for home, and more!

Dr. Jennifer Tompkins, Founder and Owner of Carrboro Pediatric Physical Therapy, LLC Founded in 2014. It is my philosophy that a child who needs physical therapy can both have fun and make gross motor gains at the same time. I am as good at playing peek a boo, as I am at helping parents understand underlying musculoskeletal or neurologic impairments their child might be experiencing. Sessions are always family-focused, making therapy an enjoyable experience.
